For this project we worked in groups of four to make a proposal for a policy change. As a group we searched for areas in Novato that were bigger than a football field and did not have any man made changes already. The area that my group chose was Aberdeen field in Hamilton field. We chose this area because it was already relatively flat and even which we decided would make it easier to create a policy change. This area is also already owned by the city of Novato which reduced our cost. Read more by clicking the button to the left.

Homeostasis is your body's way of maintaining and regulating body functions. There are many different types of homeostasis, but my group chose to focus on regulating your heart beat. To do this we gathered eight different test subjects (5 girls, 3 boys). Our test subject were all athletic and with the exception of one they were all in 10th grade. Each of our test subject ran one lap and we took their bpm before, right after, and every minute after they ran. We found that it takes an average of 3min 40sec for their bpm to return back to its resting beats. Read more by clicking the button to the left.

For this project every group chose to focus on two different organ systems. It didn't take much discussion for our group to choose the reproductive and endocrine systems. After choosing our systems we brainstormed how we could build our project. Next we made a list of all the materials we would need which included wood, lights, a clear pipe, and more. Next we drew out a basic blueprint that represented how we wanted our project to look. We then quickly gathered all the information about the two systems and how they work separetly and together and soon began to build. Read more by clicking the button to the left.

For this project we worked to solve a murder. More specifically the murder of Carelton Comet. We were given all the evidence that was found at the crime scene and we worked together to find out what all the evidence meant. We did many different tests such as DNA fingerprinting, fiber analysis, blood analysis, karyotype matching, ink chromatography, pedigree, and collecting finger prints. After getting all of our results to these tests we created a slide show that we then presented not only to the class, but also to a grand jury to receive an arrest warrant for our suspect. For this project we were given a box of 75 pieces of hardware that acted as fossils. As a group we had to classify all of these fossils based on the characteristics that we observed. After arranging them into different groups we created a poster to physically show a timeline of evolution and after doing this we wrote a story to talk about the evolution in more detail.
