Homeostasis
Homeostasis is your body's way of maintaining and regulating body functions. There are many different types of homeostasis, but my group chose to focus on regulating your heart beat. To do this we gathered eight different test subjects (5 girls, 3 boys). Our test subject were all athletic and with the exception of one they were all in 10th grade. Each of our test subject ran one lap and we took their bpm before, right after, and every minute after they ran. We found that it takes an average of 3min 40sec for their bpm to return back to its resting beats.

Homeostasis- the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes.
Bpm- Heartbeats per minute
Bpm- Heartbeats per minute
Most of this project worked very well. My group easily decided what we wanted to do and we quickly came up with an idea how we could test it. It was a little difficult at first to find people that were willing to run for us, butwithin no time we got everyone we needed. One thing that I would do differently if I did this again is using an actual machine instead of using our hands to measure our pulse. During this project I learned how to find our bpm using our pulse and a timer. Another thing I learned is that the heart rate comes back to its original heart rate much faster than I thought.
